'The Revival Project' is the title of my debut solo EP it was recorded over a span of 2 years. I recorded two songs in 2010 (then I didn't know I was working on an EP) and later had to divert attention to my group's (BBM Clique) project 'Called To Serve Mixtape' (2011) (Download link http://www.4shared.com/rar/zQIxwWSV/BBM_Clique_-_Called_To_Serve_2.html ) The EP is about being made alive again in God. It's directed to believers who have fallen from Grace and need the Lord's touch. The EP is inspired from my own experience as a believer when I backslid through a terrible addiction to pornography (discussed in the intro where I confess my own shortfalls [16 Bars of Honesty]). In the EP I tried my best to run away from boasting, self righteousness and self vindication we easily get caught up as 'Christian rappers' so to speak. I'm bringing you the struggle; my hope is that my personal struggles and hope for revival will encourage backsliding Christians who are dying silently in secret sin.
My 9 track EP features production from Aykay, KeiM, DJ Maas (Produced C-Scripture's Before Grace EP) and Manje (Rina, Beatbox) Nasco, and myself. What may surprise some is the fact there is really less Dirty South rap as some might anticipate of me being a personal musical inclination. I used everything from jazzy instrumentals, poetry and Afro beats. My personal favorite and possibly the favorite of many others is the spoken word type of hip hop song titled 'We All Need Jesus' where I implore you (and myself) not to judge other people's (preachers esp.) public sin in light of the reality of our own.
I'll release the project under Beautiful Feet (Eq the Blessed, Hagios, C-Scripture, En-Hakkore etc) which is sort of like a label. The EP will be available for FREE online and physical copies will be available later at a cost of K1,000. I also wrote a small book which is in it's final stages right now to supplement my EP. It will be distributed digitally for free. I will upload the intro to my EP soon and a banger I did with S.a.m.u.e.l of Nyali Music. Stay posted to this blog as I explain some tracks on my EP later and provide messages to encourage your soul. Peace. [Twitter @dailybasiz]
